DNV Visits SAINTS
In April, we were delighted to welcome Odd Ivar Haugen and Kristian Karolius from our partner organization, DNV, for a series of high-level discussions regarding our ongoing collaboration. The visit served as a vital touchpoint between industry and academia, focusing on the practical application of cutting-edge AI safety research.
Research in Focus
Two of our PhD researchers, Andrew Knowles and Oliver Crook, presented their preliminary findings on world models and safety cases.
The session provided a unique opportunity for our researchers to receive direct, industry-informed feedback from the DNV team, ensuring their work remains aligned with the highest safety standards in the maritime sector.
Insights on Scaling Autonomy
To conclude the visit, Kristian Karolius delivered an impactful seminar to our SAINTS cohorts. Drawing on DNV’s extensive expertise, he explored the critical frameworks essential for scaling autonomous maritime operations.
By bridging the gap between theoretical research and operational reality, the seminar highlighted the collaborative effort required to bring autonomous shipping from a concept to a global standard.
